FPL – GAMEWEEK 3

It has been quite a start to the new season of the Premier League 2019/20. Two gameweeks gone and only two teams have a perfect record i.e. Liverpool (as expected by many) and Arsenal, and this gameweek they go head to head to keep their records perfect.

Raheem Sterling(£12.2 m) leads the overall points table in FPL with 26 points. Second place sits surprisingly a Norwich player, Teemu Pukki, who has made a wonderful start for his first ever season in the PL. Both, Sterling and Pukki, already have scored a hat-trick each this season. Pukki priced at £6.8 m is a bargain for the amount of points he has delivered. Sterling looks to be in good form with Manchester City having relatively easy fixtures. Manchester City’s fixture list looks good and they can go on for a 8-9 game winning streak. Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne(£9.6 m) and Sergio Aguero are some of the top picks from City’s team to have in your FPL team.

Lucas Digne(£6.0 m) and John Lundstram(£4.1 m) have been stand-out defenders in the first two weeks with both securing 17 points. Yerry Mina(£5.6 m) , another Everton defender, has 16 points in the bag from the first two matches. As i have pointed out in my previous 2 blogs Everton can start this season strongly and they have a very winnable next 4 games as well. Picking players like Lucas Digne, Jordan Pickford(£5.6 m) and Richarlison can be productive for your FPL team. Getting Manchester City and Everton players in at this moment can be come good for the FPL managers.

I will be providing the differential players (i.e. inexpensive players or not so popular players) for every coming gameweeks from now on. It will be provided at the end of this blog. First the regular top picks for this gameweek –

Captain Picks for Gameweek 3 –

  • Mohamed Salah (My choice)
    vs Arsenal
Will be in the starting 11 for the gameweek. Scored goals in recent games against Arsenal at Anfield.
  • Raheem Sterling
    vs AFC Bournemouth
Manchester City now have an easy looking fixture list which can help them get 8-9 games winning streak and Sterling is always in and around to score or bag some assists.
  • Harry Kane
    vs Newcastle United
An easy fixture on paper for Spurs and Kane is a player who can score a goal at any moment of the game. He is a game-changer.
  • Sadio Mane (Popular choice)
    vs Arsenal

Will be in the starting 11 for the gameweek. Scored goals in recent games against Arsenal at Anfield. He with Salah are going into this fixture with very good record against Arsenal.
  • Lucas Digne
    vs Aston Villa

Everton as a team are looking strong and can achieve greater heights. Their next 4 fixtures are quite winnable for them.

Goalkeepers –

  • Pickford (Everton)
    vs Aston Villa

Everton look to have a very good defensive line this season. Already with two out of two clean sheets.
  • Lloris (Spurs)
    vs Newcastle United
Easy fixture for Spurs against Newcastle United. Lloris has delivered points at an average of 143 in past 4 seasons and that is quite good and consistent.
  • Ederson (Manchester City)
    vs AFC Bournemouth
Manchester City now have an easy looking fixture list which can help them get 8-9 games winning streak and their defense has always been solid over the past couple of seasons.
  • Rui Patrício (Wolves)
    vs Burnley

Wolves showed last season they are a very good team overall in every departments and Rui Patricio experience can certainly help them again this season.

Defenders –

  • Lucas Digne (Everton)
    vs Aston Villa

He has made a very good start to this campaign. Everton as a team are looking strong and can achieve greater heights. Their next 4 fixtures are quite winnable for them.
  • Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United)
    vs Crystal Palace

Wan-Bissaka will be up against his guys for whom he played last seaoson. There is always an extra motivation when you play against your former club.
  • Yerry Mina (Everton)
    vs Aston Villa

Everton have two out of two clean sheets and next game against Aston Villa is an easy one on the paper and can be their three out of three clean sheets.
  • Ricardo Pereira (Leicester City)
    vs Sheffield United

He secured 146 points last season which is very decent points. He can be a reliable option this weekend.
  • Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City)
    vs AFC Bournemouth

Laporte looks to be a defender Pep Guardiola relies on. Laporte can be a very good defender for a long term in your FPL teams.

Midfielders –

  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
    vs Arsenal
Will be in the starting 11 for the gameweek. Scored goals in recent games against Arsenal at Anfield.
  • Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)
    vs AFC Bournemouth
Manchester City now have an easy looking fixture list which can help them get 8-9 games winning streak and Sterling is always in and around to score or bag some assists.
  • Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
    vs Arsenal

Will be in the starting 11 for the gameweek. Scored goals in recent games against Arsenal at Anfield. He with Salah are going into this fixture with very good record against Arsenal.
  • Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
    vs AFC Bournemouth
The City playmaker set up both his side’s goals in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Spurs. That left him one away from 50 assists in the Premier League. Always a reliable option in midfield.
  • Son Heung-min (Spurs)
    vs Newcastle United

Having served his ban, Son is back and ready for the weekend’s home clash against Newcastle, but will he be thrown into Spurs’ line-up for that one is a question to be answered.

Forwards –

  • Harry Kane (Spurs)
    vs Newcastle United
An easy fixture on paper for Spurs and Kane is a player who can score a goal at any moment of the game. He is a game-changer.
  • Sergio Agüero (Manchester City)
    vs AFC Bournemouth

Aguero is always been involved in goals for City and he will be looking to add more against Bournemouth.
  • Raul Jimenez (Wolves)
    vs Burnley
He was very good last season and can kick start his form for this season from this game against Burnley.
  • Teemu Pukki (Norwich)
    vs Chelsea

Have a tough fixture this gameweek but he will be looking to continue with his good form.
  • Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal)
    vs Liverpool

Played his first game last week, looked very good and grabbed 8 points. He will be looking to help his team to stay unbeaten this weekend against Liverpool.

Now there are some differential players to look out for which have come good in the first two games –

  • Mason Mount priced at £6.1 m of Chelsea looked sharp and eager against Leicester City last week. This season is looking a breakthrough for him and Frank Lampard trust him in 3 man midfield.
    Next game vs Norwich
  • Daniel Ceballos has been compared to Santi Cazrola by his Arsenal team-mates. Still long way to go in his career. He is £5.6 m which is a bargain in midfield sector.
    Next game vs Liverpool
  • Harry Wilson played his first PL game last week and grabbing 8 points by scoring a goal. Priced at £6.0 m looks a player to watch out for.
    Next game vs Manchester City
  • Ashley Barnes of £6.6 m in forwards list is bargain. His physicality has always come good for his team.
    Next game vs Wolves

A wildcard at this stage can be used to make way for Manchester City, Everton and Spurs players as their teams schedule are relatively easy. I thought of giving it a shot myself but i used my two free transfers this week and have made changes.
